How to descale
How to descale your coffee machine
Before you begin to descale your coffee machine, first read the instruction manual that came with your coffee machine, as some techniques, procedures and products can void your manufacturer’s warranty.
We recommend that you utilize a proper citric acid based descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines. Carefully follow the instructions on the packet to ensure the right mixture, failing to do so could damage your machine or result in an ineffective descale.
If your coffee machine cannot pump water through the steam arm, pump water through the group handle without the handle in place. Immediately turn off the machine.
While you are waiting for the descaling solution to eat away at the limescale build up, take the time to clean the other parts of the machine.
Repeat the steps above until the water tank is completely empty. When you are at this stage all of the descaling solution should have been pumped through the coffee machine, removing the limescale build up. The whole descaling process should take about 5 cycles to empty the water tank and take from 40 minutes to hour to complete.
